Sipan comes from the Italian "Giuppana" and with its 16.5 km2, it is the largest of the islands of the Archipelago Elaphiti. Located 17 km north-west of Dubrovnik, it is separated from the mainland by the Kolocep Canal.
Surrounded by several small islands, Sipan is known for its many bays, for its clear water and the wide variety of fish species inhabiting its waters.

The island of Sipan, dating from the Middle Ages, offers us the discovery of about thirty churches, the majority of which are in ruins.
To the east, near the port of Sudurad ("San Giorgio", in Italian), we discover the Castle of the family Stjepović Skočibuha, dating from the Renaissance. Do not miss the Pakljena Tower (1529) and the Holy Spirit Church ("Sveti Duh" in Croatian) with its flat roof, the largest of its kind on the Adriatic Coast. to the west, that of Sipanska Luka ("Porto Gippana", in Italian).
