Excursion's informations

Hvar island, St. Nicolas peak
Start point: Svirče

Walk and discover our heritage:
Hvar is the sunniest Croatian island lying between the islands of Brač, Vis and Korčula. The island has typical Mediterranean vegetation and the hillsides are covered in pine forests, with vineyards, olive groves and lavender fields in the agricultural areas. The climate is characterized by warm summers with many hours of sunshine. With its long and rich history this is one of the most interesting islands on the Croatian coast. The highest peak is St. Nikola, at 628 meters, with a small chapel from the 15th century. The view from the top shows nearby islands Korčula, Vis, Brač, Pakleni islands in front of the Hvar harbour and the small island of Šćedro. St. Nikola provides an excellent view of the UNESCO protected Greek Hora. This fertile plain has been farmed since pre-historic times, and the Greek field layout is still largely intact. Overall this tour allows the opportunity to be surrounded by stunning plains of greenery and landscapes with a proper view of flourishing land and serene sea.

Our hiking tour begins in Svirče, a small village. We begin to walk towards the highest peak and from the peak we descend towards Sv. Nedjelja, on the south coast of the island. Sv. Nedjelja is a small village famous for the best red wine whose grapes mature on the steep southern slopes under the highest peak of the island. This hiking path has views of vineyards and steep rocks of this side of Hvar Island.
