The wine route of Herzegovina gives you the opportunity to witness all important tourist destinations in Herzegovina. There is the chance to taste two wine varieties: the Žilavka and the Blatina. Mostar is situated on the Neretva River and is the fifth-largest city in the country. Located near there is the town of Međugorje best known for the apparation of Virgin Mary in 1981. Both are surrounded by vibrant hills and flourishing nature all around. Mogorjelo is a place that homes a Roman Villa dating all the way back to the early fourth century, and Počitelj accommodates an impressive stone-constructed Ottoman Citadel. Both revealing the intriguing heritage of this beautiful region.
The tour starts in Mostar where you will get a brief history of the city. After that we will take our trip towards the winery. You will be able to see plenty of Herzegovinian wineyards and the stunning river Neretva accompanied by amazing landscape. At Andrija Winery in the heart of the Herzegovina karst, you will taste domestic "Herzegovinian plate" and one of our best local wines. After which we will have three short visits in the towns: Međugorje, Mogorjelo, Počitelj. After the historical sightseeing upon request we can have another stop at Zadro Winery to taste high quality "Žilavka".
On the road, brief stops:
- Međugorje: high place of pilgrimage, of the Queen of Peace
- Mogorjelo: Roman Villa from the 4th century.
- Počitelj: Impressive Ottoman Citadel.
In two wineries, in the heart of Karst Herzegovina, we taste a Herzegovian plate, accompanied by one of the best local wines.
