Railroad of Ciro, Trebinje & Herzegovina Vineyards: Cycle and Discover Our Heritage
Start point: Trebinje
The historic Ćiro railway is remembered for its steam locomotives, passing through the scenic landscapes of Herzegovina from Mostar along the Neretva River, crossing into Croatia, and ending in Dubrovnik. Construction began in 1898 and was completed in 1901. Today, the route has been converted into a cycling trail.
The day starts in Trebinje, cycling through the village and its preserved natural trails. The route passes through Popovo Polje and the old railway stations of Ravno and Zavala. We continue through other historic stations and the wine route until reaching the town of Trebinje.
Vjetrenica Cave & Ćiro Railway Museum
Vjetrenica, also known as Puhalo, is the largest cave in Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of the richest in the world in terms of underground biodiversity, with over 200 registered species.

The museum is near the cave, located in a beautifully adapted old railway station.

Cycling back towards Trebinje along the wine route in the heart of Herzovina, the most important wine-growing region in the area, exploring the local tradition of producing the famous Žilavka and Blatina wines.
