Start point: Trebinje
The Railroad of Ciro is historically remembered for it´s steam locomotives, it passes through the landscapes of Herzegovina starting in Mostar alongside the Neretva river all the way across the border of Croatia, ending in Dubrovnik. The construction of this trail started in 1898 and ended in 1901. Today this trail is reconstructed into a cycling track.
Cycling through the Herzegovina Hilly carst from Trebinje to Ciro railroad station Hum. After a short break we go for a tour of the Vjetrenica cave and the old Zavala railway station where we have a beautiful view of Popovo polje. The visit to the cave is followed by cycling from Zavala to Ciro station Hum. The road passes through picturesque landscapes of Herzegovinian karst with a view on the Popovo field, along the way we will make the stops on various view points and resting spots until we return Trebinje.
Wine route: Herzegovinian vineyards
We Cycle back to Trebinje along the wine road in the heart of Herzegovina, the most important vineyards in the region, getting to know the local tradition of producing the famous varieties of wine žilavka and blatina. There we will visit the Winery for wine tasting and cheese & ham platter.
