Railroad of Ciro, Stolac & Medieval heritage: Cycle and discover our heritage

The Ćiro railway is remembered in history for its steam locomotives, it passes through the Herzegovinian landscapes starting from Mostar, along the Neretva river, all the way across the Croatian border, ending in Dubrovnik. The construction of this trail began in 1898 and ended in 1901. Today, that path has been converted into a bicycle path.

The cycling tour starts in Hutovo, from where we cycle through the Herzegovinian hilly karst until we reach Stolac. Back on the bikes, we ride from Stolac, stopping at various resorts and viewpoints to Neum, where our tour ends.

Huto blato
In the south of Herzegovina, in a typically karst environment, on the left side of the Neretva River, there is Hutovo blato, a unique sub-Mediterranean swamp in Europe, only fifteen kilometers from the Adriatic Sea. It covers an area of ​​7411 hectares.

Stolac
The old town is located on a hill above the modern city center. In the 17th century, it was the best fortified place in Herzegovina, protected by a huge wall and 13 towers. The preserved ruins have the status of a national monument. Medieval fairs are regularly held on their territory.

Necropolis of Radimlje
We visit the necropolises of Radimlje, located near the town of Stolac, which are the most important and best-preserved stećci, medieval tombstones in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It consists of 133 stećaks from 1480.
